We specialise in trapping and relocation of most of our native species of fauna from development sites being cleared for our homes. This is an important practice because it not only saves our vulnerable species of native fauna but also prevents the push of VENOMOUS SNAKES into the homes surrounding the development site.

Each and every individual species we share our world with is important and holds a special and unique place in the food chain. If we remove any one species from an area we risk damaging the delicate balance and therefore will cause other species to become dominant and change that area forever.

Venomous Snakes are an important part of any ecosystem as they eat everything from Insects and Bugs as juveniles to Mice, Rats, Frogs, Snakes, Lizards and many more species as adults. This in turn ensures any one area does not get overrun with pest rodent species or any of the other species which they eat.

When we just clear an area we risk individual snakes being rolled up in the vegetation which is being pushed by the dozers, they then wait until it goes quiet and leave the area. If they choose to leave while other people are there then it could become dangerous. The snake will be scared and upset with being displaced, when he comes across a person he will react to the situation with this anger at the forefront and strike anyone who threatens his safety. This is not the normal behaviour for most of our snake species in Australia who would rather escape and hide rather that confront a human who has the ability to kill him.

Species like the Western Blue Tongue (ABOVE) when confronted by machinery will go to ground and hide until they consider it safe to leave. This in turn will be the cause of their demise as the machine operator can't see them in the vegetation and will run them over.

Note - safety is our highest priority, while catching a venomous snake all volunteers wear full leg protection. Our uniforms ensure we are always ready to enter any worksite, all PPE requirements are met for all situations.
