WHAT DO I DO IF I SEE A SNAKE?

Every snake should be treated as if it is venomous and should not be approached. You should observe the snake from a safe distance and phone to have him relocated by a licensed Venomous Snake Removalist. By watching where the snake goes you will ensure that when the removalist arrives he can go straight to where the snake is and capture him. This ensures the safety of everyone concerned and eliminates the worry associated with not knowing where the snake went after you went inside.

CAN I DO ANYTHING TO ENSURE HIS CAPTURE?

The simple answer is yes you can do something.
You will need a blanket this will be heavy and will create a hiding spot which the snake will feel comfortable under and he will hide. By throwing the blanket from four or five meters away you will remain safe. If he does not stay under the blanket wait until he is a safe distance away and throw the blanket again, repeat this until he stays. If he attempts to come out of this spot them bang the ground with your foot or the back of a broom head and he will go back under where he feels happy. While you undertake this procedure make sure all pets and children are inside and safe before you start. Don't hit the snake because if you miss he can strike almost twice his body length and the fact he is threatened by you will ensure he tries to bite.
